General Preparation of Wool
  • Practice good pasture and feed management to keep fleeces free of hay, seeds, debris throughout the year.
  • Use a blower and brush llamas first to remove majority of debris.
  • Avoid second cuts.
  • Put down a clean drop cloth when shearing to keep fleece from coming into contact with the ground.
  • Make sure fleece is dry before storing.
  • Store in cloth bags; never plastic, which will promote mold & mildew.
